ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
The Black Artist Foundry's Artist in Residence (AiR) program offers a unique opportunity for three Black artists in the Sacramento region. The program provides a six-month studio space at Dwellpoint, located in downtown Sacramento, and is specifically designed to support Black visual artists. The primary mission of the Black Artist Foundry is to uplift and empower Black artists, and this program is a direct reflection of our commitment. It aims to provide a supportive environment where Black artists can create their work.
The program offers three selected artists access to studio space and materials, ensuring that they have the necessary resources to focus on their artistic practice. The studio space at Dwellpoint provides a conducive and inspiring environment for the artists to develop their work and engage in their creative process. Throughout the BlackAF AiR program, artists will have opportunities to collaborate, network, and engage with other artists, curators, writers, and collectors in the Sacramento region. This not only fosters a sense of community but also opens doors for future collaborations and artistic growth. At the culmination of the residency, there will be a group exhibition and accompanying catalog highlighting the body of work created by the resident artists.
